Pittsburgh should solve road woes

This article has been read 548 times.

It's hard to believe we're well into October and the Steelers are still looking for their first road victoryof the season.

This is, after all, largely the same team that went 6-2 on the road last season - 7-2 counting their win in the Super Bowl at a neutral site.

That should change, however, today at Detroit.

The Lions are better than they were last year, when they became the first team in NFL history to go 0-16. But they're still not good enough to stay with the Steelers.

Current rating:
The Lions have given up 12 touchdown passes in only four games and are allowing more than five yards per carry - two things the Steelers' offense should be more than able to exploit.

Pittsburgh will get an early lead in this game and then unleash their pass rush, which has been MIA so far this season.

Rashard Mendenhall should have another big game subbing for injured Willie Parker and the Steelers should cover the 10 1/2-point spread, even if they slow things down in the second half after building a big lead.

Take Pittsburgh, 34-13 as the Pick of the Week.

Minnesota (minus 91/2) at St. Louis

The Rams have just three touchdowns this season and have been shut out twice.

Take Minnesota, 31-6

Dallas (minus 8)

at Kansas City

Something just isn't right with the Cowboys. It shouldn't matter against an awful Kansas City team.

Take Dallas, 24-10

Washington (plus 31/2) at Carolina

It's hard to believe the Panthers, who were 12-4 last season, are still looking for their first win. They get it this week.

Take Carolina, 20-13

Tampa Bay (plus 141/2) at Philadelphia

Donovan McNabb will be back at quarterback for the Eagles, who haven't missed a beat without him.

Take Philadelphia, 31-13

Oakland (plus 15)

at N.Y. Giants

Oakland quarterback JaMarcus Russell is completing less than 40 percent of his passes.

Take the Giants, 34-7

Cleveland (plus 6)

at Buffalo

Should Buffalo really be giving anyone six points, even at home?

Take Cleveland, 24-20

Cincinnati (plus 8)

at Baltimore

The Bengals might keep this closer than many expect, but they'll still lose.

Take the Bengals to cover in a 24-17 loss

Atlanta (plus 21/2)

at San Francisco

Trips to the West Coast are usually tough on East Coast teams, but Atlanta was off last week.

Take Atlanta, 23-17

New England (minus 3)

at Denver

If the Broncos pull this one off, Josh McDaniel should be Coach of the Year. They won't.

Take New England, 27-17

Houston (plus 51/2)

at Arizona

These are two teams with good offenses that don't play much defense. It should be a fun one to watch, if you like those kind of games.

Take Houston to cover in a 34-31 loss

Jacksonville (plus 1)

at Seattle

Matt Hasselbeck should be back for the Seahawks. The coast-to-coast trip will be tough on Jacksonville.

Take Seattle, 27-21

Indianapolis (minus 4)

at Tennessee

The Titans haven't won a game since they toyed with the Terrible Towel.

Take Indianapolis, 30-17

N.Y. Jets (plus 2)

at Miami

The Dolphins did it with smoke and mirrors last season. The smoke has cleared.

Take the Jets, 24-16

Last Week: 10-4, correct Pick of the Week

Overall: 37-23, 2-2 in Pick of the Week
