A former police chief in East Washington has officially taken office as Washington County’s newest district judge.

Washington County President Judge Debbie O’Dell Seneca this morning swore into office Robert Redlinger, who will begin his duties this afternoon.

Redlinger was confirmed in a unanimous vote of the state Senate Oct. 19 after he won both the Democratic and Republican nominations for district judge in the spring primary. He replaces J. Albert Spence, who retired from the bench in June 2008.

Redlinger’s office is in Washington, where he also will hear civil, criminal and non-traffic cases from East Washington and North Franklin Township.

Good for Bob, indeed! He was a quality policeman and chief and he continues to be a quality human being. I wish him and his family the best.

Bob has shown great humility throughout this process, and brings tremendous experience to the table. He will be a breath of fresh air!
