Army Lt. Col. Fred Tady, left, looks on as Army Capt. Kevin M. Ola, center, assumes command of Headquarters Company, 2nd Brigade 28th Infantry Division during a Saturday ceremony at the Pennsylvania National Guard Armory in Washington. Ola, a Washington County resident, will lead a group of 133 soldiers who play a major role in the Pennsylvania Homeland Response Force, which reacts to disasters of 9/11 proportions in a multistate region. Ola plans to reach out to local civilian leaders in order for the company to become more of a hometown presence. He is taking over for Capt. David A. Clay Jr. of Carnegie, right, who has served as commander since July 2009.

An on-duty West Virginia sheriff's deputy died early Saturday after a crash on Interstate 79 in Greene County with a driver being pursued by police for driving under the influence of alcohol.
