Truck overturns: Justin K. Loar, 30, of Washington, and his passenger, Timothy Lee Pendland, 27, of Washington, escaped injury Thursday night when Loar swerved his pickup truck on South Main Street Extension, Amwell, to avoid a deer, state police said. The truck rolled on its side.

Driver charged: Robert James Davis, 47, of 136 Route 837, Monongahela, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol stemming from a one-vehicle crash Tuesday night on Long Alley near the Belle Vernon Municipal Building, Fayette County.

Threatening letter: Melissa Bianchi, 38, of 135 Crow St., Long Branch, told Southwest Regional police that a woman with dark hair driving a silver or gray Chevrolet Cavalier pulled up to her mailbox and put a threatening letter in it Thursday morning.
MCDONALD
Assault arrest: Joshua J. Ghelarducci, 29, of 1963 Route 980, Canonsburg, was arrested Thursday by McDonald police after he allegedly assaulted his wife.
He is accused of grabbing Michelle Ghelarducci by the left arm during the confrontation at 103 Railroad St. He also is accused of grabbing her by the wrist when she attempted to go up the stairs.
He was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson on a charge of simple assault and released.
MONONGAHELA
Drug arrest: Timothy O'Leary, 49, of 108 Adams St., Monongahela, was arrested by Monongahela police after they found him carrying a half brick of heroin following a traffic stop at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Police said O'Leary was stopped at routes 88 and 837. He was charged with possession and possession with intent to deliver heroin.
Carroll Township police and the Washington County Drug Task Force assisted.
O'Leary was scheduled to be video arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson Friday night.
MT. PLEASANT TOWNSHIP
Shop burglarized: State police are investigating a burglary Wednesday at Granni's Pizza, Noblestown Road, Mt. Pleasant. Police said $800 was stolen.
SOUTH FAYETTE TOWNSHIP
Windows broken: More than 100 windows at the former Mayview State Hospital were broken, resulting in a loss of about $5,000, township police said.
Fifty-five windows in Temple building 1 and 65 windows in Temple building 2 were broken before Nov. 6.
Man charged: Patrick Gallagher, 54, of Sturgeon, was charged with simple assault following an assault on his wife in their home in the 700 block of McNary Street, police said. The assault occurred Nov. 8, and he was taken to Allegheny County Jail.
Theft from vehicles: Seven unlocked vehicles, two on Highland Creek Drive and five on Hickory Heights Drive, were entered and a variety of items were stolen, police said. The thefts occurred overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday.
SOUTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP
Retail theft: A musical water globe valued at $299 was reported stolen Thursday from American Country, Tanger Outlets, South Strabane police said.
A clerk said that a white man in his 20s wearing a black pea coat and baggy jeans may have distracted her in the back of the store while an accomplice stole the globe.
