Group seeks input for grants
This fall, WGF reached out to women and girls-serving agencies in Southwestern Pennsylvania seeking grant applications for projects that would increase women and girls' rights through community organizing or policy advocacy efforts. The WGF Grantmaking Committee reviewed 31 applications from the region and selected the top 10 proposals.
Among those selected was Washington Hospital Teen Outreach, administered by Mary Jo Podgurski, director. The program will link adult women and adolescent girls in a countywide community advocacy effort to encourage positive body image called Inside Out: Enhancing Body Image for Women and Girls.
To engage the community in its grantmaking process, WGF seeks community input on the top 10 proposals. The online vote will help WGF determine which of these agencies will receive a grant award.

Votes must be submitted by 5 p.m. Monday. The number of votes earned will not determine the grant award winners. However, after the end of the voting period, the WGF Grantmaking Committee will review voting results and detailed grant proposals.
The committee will use the information to recommend $50,000 of grant awards to the WGF Board of Directors for approval and release at its December board meeting.
