Nutritional Stress Reduction Therapy

CLAYSVILLE - Chiropractor Robert W. Daniels Jr. admits he was skeptical when he first heard about Nutritional Stress Reduction Therapy.

But after experiencing firsthand that it works, Daniels has become one of its biggest advocates, and is one of just two practitioners in Pennsylvania who is using Bax Aura tech-nology on patients undergoing NSRT.

"You don't have to believe in it for it to work," Daniels said. "A lot of people come as a last resort."

The Bax system introduces, measures and assesses hundreds of individual harmonic frequencies, helping practitioners determine what environmental, food or chemical triggers may be impacting overall health. It assesses groups of sub-stances based on protocols, patient histories, patient-reported symptoms or health goals, but does not assess all frequencies at once.

When the software was developed in 2007, the Bax system could identify 2,500 stressors. "At the time, it was the latest, greatest thing," said Daniels, who operates Daniels Chiro-practic in Claysville.

That number has since increased to 5,000, and, according to Daniels, BioVeda Technologies, which devel-oped the Bax system, is working on a program that will be able to detect 125,000 stressors.

NSRT incorporates the stress assessment technology, low-level light therapy, nutritional and herbal supplementation and complex home-opathic medications to increase core-level energy, promote healthy and natural detoxification and bring the body back to balance.

The technology is similar in practice to a polygraph. First, a baseline stress measurement is taken. Then, using the harmonic frequencies, the body is asked a series of questions about different substances. The strength of the body's response, duration and other factors are measured to quantify which environmental, chemical and food substances cause an increase in both psychological and physiological stress on the body.

Even though it wasn't designed to test for allergies, the assessment will, in many cases, identify known allergens that cause stress on the body. According to the American Medical Association, stress causes or exacerbates 80 percent to 85 percent of all human illnesses.

"You're not being treated for any one condition," Daniels said. "By removing stressors from your ner-vous system, you can eliminate allergies, asthma and skin condi-tions."

Daniels, for instance, had been taking allergy shots and medication for 28 years to treat his asthma. Today, he takes neither, and he owes it to the Bax system, which ident-ified his asthma stressors.

The assessment test and treatments are quick, easy and painless. No needles are involved, and each treatment takes less than 15 minutes.

Once the stressors are identified, a laser is used to target different acupuncture points and stimu-late the nervous system "so that the next time you encounter those stress-ors, your body doesn't respond the same way," Daniels said.

Nutritional products and homeopa-thic medicines are prescribed to rein-force the results and detoxify the body.

Since its introduction in 2007, the system has been very reliable. No symptomatic recurrences were re-ported after one- and two-year check-ups, and Daniels said it has an 80 percent success rate.

Symptomatic improvement can occur after just one or two visits, but the time varies from patient to patient, depending on the severity of the health-related issues and the results of the stress assessment.

One of Daniels' pa-tients, a young boy with eczema and allergies, traveled three hours one way for his treatments. After the fourth visit, his mother wondered whether it would help. It has.

Another patient who suffered from Irritable Bowel Syndrome was "cured" after one treatment.

Daniels noted the Bax system cannot prevent stressors from developing, and treatment can produce mild side effects, such as headaches. Daniels, for instance, experienced flu-like symptoms for 15 to 20 minutes after his first treatment.

NSRT is not covered by insurance, and the cost varies. Daniels charges $70 per treatment, while some physicians charge up to $140. However, the cost, he said, can be negligible if NSRT eliminates the need for lifelong medications and other treatments.

"It's really for overall wellness," Daniels said. "It takes stress off the nervous system."
