Family-owned dealership offers a legacy of car knowledge, community support
Auto Land in Uniontown is a family business built on decades of experience.
“We’re not a huge dealership group or a big corporation. We’re hands-on and you can find my father, mother, brother or myself at the dealership every day,” Chris Parker Jr. said.
Parker’s grandfather started selling vehicles in 1960 and had a number of dealerships over the years. In 1986, the Auto Land location opened in the family’s hometown of Uniontown. It began as a pre-owned car dealership but in 2001, the Parker’s brought in Hyundai to offer more to their customers.
During the pandemic, supply chains were limited or shut down altogether, causing the price of nearly everything to rise. Even the number of new or pre-owned vehicles were lower than average, and it was difficult to find a deal. But, Parker said, the family held firm and never raised their prices more than necessary.
It’s paying off for those customers today.
“I think it’s a good time to buy. The market and pricing have evened out and we have a good supply on hand,” Parker said. “There’s some aggressive discounting and incentives going on and lower APR options. Those customers that bought from us in 2000 and are now trading in are in a good spot because they purchased at a fair price.”
Parker said one of the ways to simplify the search for a new vehicle is for a customer to have a rough idea of what they want.
“If you have an idea of what your needs are: do you prefer remote start, heated seats, leather or cloth? Some people buy based on pets, family, lifestyle and other features that are important to them,” Parker said. “If you feel like you know what you want ahead of time, I can narrow that down to what we have on the lot pretty quickly.”
Finding the perfect vehicle for the buyer and knowing it matches their needs and lifestyle is the goal of Auto Land Hyundai’s staff, he said.
“We want to provide a car that serves your needs. We want you to trust us and feel confident in whatever it is. Maybe you need your car serviced or you have a question about a trade-in,” Parker said. “We want you to know you can come down and talk to us and there will be someone here that’s knowledgeable in that area and can help you.”
Born and raised in Uniontown, the Parkers love their diverse customer base and are proud of the service they’re providing in Fayette County and beyond.
“It means a lot to us because we’ve been here our whole lives. Even those that come in from outside Uniontown can appreciate the service we can give. You’ll notice the difference,” Parker said.
