Pa. slots revenue down again
The odds of winning in slots have to be with The Meadows Racetrack & Casino.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported Thursday that The Meadows in July experienced a 12.35 percent decrease in gross revenue from the same month in 2012.
That was the eighth consecutive month and 11th of the past 13 that the North Strabane Township casino showed a year-over-year decline.
On its website, gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov, the board said The Meadows garnered $19,452,828 in July revenue, down from $22,194,336 a year earlier.
The July 1 opening of the Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin, at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Fayette County, likely had some effect on The Meadows’ showing for the month. Lady Luck had $2,357,083 in gross revenue.
Despite having one more operating casino this July, the state experienced a 3.7 percent decline in year-over-year gross slots revenue: $204,909,480 compared with $212,871,833 in July 2012. Excluding Lady Luck from the equation, the 11 casinos open both years realized a 4.8 decrease.
Rivers Casino, on the North Shore of Pittsburgh, was one of only two that had an increase in revenue. Rivers pulled in $23,966,458 compared with $23,374,561 in July 2012.
