Old Mill gets another tenant

2 min read

Old Mill keeps streaming along.

Noodles & Co., a fast- casual restaurant chain, will locate in the 104-acre project off Route 19 in South Strabane Township. Erin Murphy, spokeswoman for the Broomfield, Colo.-based company, said Friday that an August opening is planned.

A banner is stretched across its pending storefront at Old Mill, proclaiming “Noodles & Co. Coming Soon.”

The chain offers international and American noodle dishes, sandwiches, pastas, salads and soup.

Murphy said the company plans to hire 35 to 40 for the site, and will begin doing so July 7. Visit www.noodles.com/jobs to apply.

She added the restaurant will have 2,600 feet of space with seating for 95 -73 in the dining room, 22 on the patio.

Two restaurants, Max & Erma’s and Olive Garden, are the only businesses operating at Old Mill, at the front side. Seven others are targeted to join them: Hobby Lobby, Field & Stream, LongHorn Steakhouse, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chick fil-A, Anytime Fitness, and now, Noodles & Co.

TSG Properties of St. Louis is the owner and developer of the site, where the Foundry project was scuttled more than five years ago. J.C. Penney was the first store to open there in March 2007, followed by three others. But by mid-2008, damage to buildings caused by subsidence forced J.C. Penney to return to Washington Mall and Bed Bath & Beyond and Ross Dress for Less to depart.

Max & Erma’s was unaffected by moving earth and remained. It was the only tenant on the site for nearly four years, until Olive Garden debuted on an adjacent tract in December 2012.

Noodles & Co. has five restaurants in Southwestern Pennsylvania (Downtown Pittsburgh, Oakland, Monroeville, Wexford and Cranberry).

Construction of three others, however, is underway, and all are within a half-hour drive of Washington – Old Mill; Donaldsons Square strip center in Peters Township; and South Hills Village in Upper St. Clair and Bethel Park. A fall opening is planned for the latter two.
