Slots revenue down at Meadows, across state
Slot machine revenue at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino last month dropped 6.31 percent from the previous February, a decline similar to what the state experienced, according to a news release.
Figures released Wednesday by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board show the North Strabane Township casino had $17,016,314.41 in revenue last month, a year-over-year slide of $1,146.350.29 from $18,162,664.70.
The Meadows, however, did end a streak of two monthly declines. Its February revenue was $1,311,499.92 more than the January figure of $15,704,814.49.
That was less than Pennsylvania’s 7.54 percent decline – a figure that is deceptive. The 12 casinos statewide pulled in $181.2 million, down from $195.9 million in February 2013.
Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin – which had $1.67 million in revenue last month – did not open in Fayette County until July 1 and thus does not have year-over-year numbers. Collectively, the 11 casinos open both Februarys absorbed a decline of $16,437,895.52 — or 8.3 percent.
Ten of those 11 casinos experienced a year-over-year revenue drop, the exception being Valley Forge Casino Resort, which had an 11.81 percent increase. Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs had the smallest decrease (0.53 percent), Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course the largest (15.42 percent).
Rivers Casino, on the North Shore of Pittsburgh, dropped 5.25 percent (from $24.4 million to $23.2 million).
Slots play last month raised $96,921,946 in tax revenue statewide.
