October slots revenue rises at Meadows

1 min read

As leaves fell, slots revenue rose at Pennsylvania casinos in October – fueled, in part, by an increase at The Meadows Casino.

Slot machine play at the state’s 12 operating casinos generated $191,130,249.65 in gross revenue last month, according to a report Wednesday on the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board website (gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov). That is a 1.14 percent rise from the October 2013 total of $188,973,185.14.

The Meadows realized a similar year-over-year increase of 0.81 percent. The North Strabane Township casino had $17,802,976.55 in revenue last month, up from $17,659,584.74 the previous October.

Only five of the 12 experienced an increase, including Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin. The Fayette County facility generated $2,709,843.24 last month, a 56.83 percent jump from $1,727,860.36 the year before. Lady Luck opened in mid-2013.

Revenue at Rivers, on Pittsburgh’s North Shore, declined 1.26 percent to $22,256,276.12 from $22,540,156.46 in October 2013.

The statewide revenue figure rose though the average number of operating slot machines dropped by 184 from the previous October – from 26,598 to 26,414.
