Slots revenue drops at Meadows
Revenue from slot machine play at Pennsylvania casinos last month declined 3.9 percent from March 2014.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board released figures on its website, gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov, Thursday. They also showed declines of 5.38 percent at The Meadows Casino in North Strabane Township and 4.57 percent at Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh. Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin, in Fayette County, experienced a 13 percent increase.
Gross revenue from slots last month was $207,712,396 statewide, down from $216,213,980 year over year. Play last month generated $110,788,626 in tax revenue.
Nine of 12 casinos experienced declines, including The Meadows ($18,799,708.54 from $19,869,316.92) and Rivers ($24,474,712.25 from $25,646,514.08). Lady Luck had $2,493,840.85 in revenue last month compared with $2,207,008.90 in March 2014. Valley Forge Casino Resort (3.29 percent) and Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem (2.43) also showed increases.
The average number of slot machines in operation statewide also dropped year over year, from 26,574 to 26,336.
