O-R, chamber to host Spring Career Expo
If your spring plans include looking for a job or starting a new career, opportunity is just around the corner.
The 2015 Spring Career Expo, sponsored by the Observer-Reporter and Washington County Chamber of Commerce, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the DoubleTree hotel on Racetrack Road in North Strabane Township.
The event, which is free to job seekers, will be attended by more than 40 area employers, colleges and career schools. Industries represented at the expo include health care, education, financial services, retail, restaurants, social services, automotive, manufacturing, trucking and transportation, professional staffing services, environmental services, mining, and gaming and entertainment. Attendees are being asked to bring copies of their résumés.
Observer-Reporter classified advertising manager Pam Tuscano said the Career Expo, which debuted in 1996, will have new features this year, including a 20-page informational publication on ways to conduct the best job search, inside Sunday’s edition of the Observer-Reporter.
Also at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the DoubleTree, prior to the start of the career expo, a representative from Pennsylvania CareerLink will provide tips for writing a better résumé and techniques for improving job interview skills.
Job seekers who register for the expo at observer-reporter.com/career will be eligible to win one of several gift cards.
