WHEELING, W.Va. – A Murray Energy subsidiary said it temporarily idled an underground coal mine in Ohio County because of high water levels on the Ohio River.

WTFR-TV reported Ohio County Coal Co., LLC announced the move Tuesday.

The company said the high water levels interrupted barge transportation.

The mine’s temporary shutdown will affect 383 hourly employees.
