Northwest Savings Bank is poised to cash in on its move.

The new South Strabane Township branch, a mile from the old location, will open for business today at 260 Murtland Ave. Drive-through access will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the lobby will open at 9.

“This is the big day,” said Chris Claspy, vice president and Washington County area manager – in addition to branch manager.

His branch relocated from Walmart in Trinity Point shopping center, along with six employees who previously worked there. The Murtland venue has 2,600 square feet of operating space and is near the AAA travel offices, Interstate 70 and Washington city line.

“The branch will be very different from traditional branches,” Claspy said, mentioning features that include “self-service safe deposit boxes with hand-scan access.”

Lobby hours will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. Drive-through service will begin at 8:30 each day. Lobby and drive-though hours Saturday will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The phone number is 724-229-8400.

Northwest, based in Warren, Pa., was formed in 1897. It has more than 2,000 employees at 165 branches in four states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland and New York. Most branches are in the Keystone State.

Murtland is one of six Washington County locations. The others are in Washington (West Chestnut), Canonsburg, McDonald, Fredericktown and Marianna.
