Burgerz and Dogz aiming for spring opening at Park Place
It will be three months before you can drag your buns to Burgerz and Dogz off Racetrack Road.
“We are shooting for a late May-early June opening,” owner/founder Doug Baros said of the location at Park Place at the Meadowlands, the third restaurant in his small but growing restaurant chain. Hamburgers and hot dogs -surprise – are the signature fare, although bison, chicken, sausages, salads and desserts also are on the menu. There are a number of gluten-free items available as well.
Last summer, an employee at the company’s flagship in South Park Township estimated an October 2014 opening for the Washington County site. Design changes and miserable weather, of course, forestalled the beginning of construction. Baros is hoping it commences soon.
BnDz will occupy 2,200 square feet in the two-story building behind the BFS Foods superstore near the Route 19-Racetrack Road intersection. BFS is in the small sliver of the project that is in South Strabane Township; the remaining property, eseentially, is in North Strabane Township. Metro Property Management is the Morgantown, W.Va.-based developer.
Burgerz and Dogz opened a second site on Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon, late last summer.
Rapidly rebounding South Main Street has added allure.
Allure Impressions opened there last week, offering hair care, nail care, skin treatments and body sugaring. It is at 415 S. Main, where A&M Wine and Beer Supplies was before moving to the 200 block the beginning of this year.
Dawn Miller of Amity is the owner and is familiar with doing business in downtown Washington. She was at Shear Xperience on Main for many years.
Naming the new shop was a snap. “Allure means beautiful and I liked the name,” Miller said. “Pleasing my customers is the goal. We want them to feel comfortable, so we’re offering the best services we can.”
She has three staffers and accepts walk-ins, “but it’s better if you have an appointment.”
Hours are: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday; and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. A Facebook page is in the works.
