Lilliput is standing tall.

Finleyville-based Lilliput Play Homes is featured in the documentary “Good Business,” produced by MultiView and showing 10 small businesses from across the country.

The local firm is profiled in a 7 minute, 36-second video with the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwFSoehHt3w.

Lilliput designs, builds and installs luxury play houses for children and distributes them locally, nationally and internationally. These small homes have windows, electricity and running water.

The company has its office and warehouse in Finleyville and a play center on Route 19 in Peters Township.

Owner Stephen Chernicky speaks in the video. He founded the company in 1989, after building a playhouse for his daughter, Alyssa, in their backyard. His work piqued the interest of others and he started building more houses part time, before turning it into a full-time job in 1995.

Ten-plus employees build the houses in Finleyville, mostly out of wood and a plastic called cellular PVC. The homes are shipped in pieces to the location, where they are installed.

Bill’s obviously has been fitting the bill.

The Bill’s Furniture store, at 810 Broad St., has been part of the Washington business landscape for 55 years – dating to the year Bill Mazeroski launched his iconic blast out of Forbes Field.

Bill and Charlotte Howard own the business that soon will celebrate its 55th anniversary. The store’s number is 724-222-6638. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bills-Furniture/154251971276933
