Dance studio headed to George Washington
A dance studio is opening in The George Washington.
Rhythm City Dance by Chelsea LLC is preparing to launch Sept. 8 at the iconic Washington hotel at 60 S. Main St. Chelsea Kanotz is the owner/operator of Rhythm City, which will offer recreational dance classes for age 2 1/2 through adult. Cheerleading classes also will be available at the studio, on the third floor. Competitive dance and cheerleading teams will be formed.
Kanotz, who grew up in Peters Township and now lives in North Strabane Township, said all styles of dance will be offered. She has been teaching for nine years and heads a staff of five certified instructors with bachelor’s degrees in dance. Kanotz earned her degree at Point Park University.
Class days and hours are not firm, although she estimated that classes will run from 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with younger children participating in the morning.
Rhythm City will have a summer camp Aug. 10-15 in the hotel lobby’s Washington Room. Ages 7-10 will participate from 9 a.m. to noon, and age 11 and up from 12:15 to 3:15 p.m. Fall registration can be made then.
