State jobless rate dips to 5.3 percent
Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate dropped to 5.3 percent in September, down one-tenth of a point from the previous month, according to statistics released Friday by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry.
That figure was 0.2 points above the U.S. rate for September and matched the state’s September 2014 rate of 5.3 percent.
Pennsylvania’s civilian labor force was down 7,000 in September to 6,409,000. Resident employment and unemployment were down for the month.
