August slots revenue down statewide, at The Meadows
Gross revenue from slot machines play at Pennsylvania casinos last month dropped 3.32 percent from August 2014, with The Meadows Racetrack & Casino experiencing a similar decline.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board posted results Friday on its website, gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov. The state’s 12 operating casinos generated $203,026,163 in slots revenue in August, nearly $7 million below the August 2014 figure of $210,006,849.
Revenue at The Meadows dipped 3.56 percent over the year, from $20,148,471.32 in August 2014 to $19,430,465.79 last month.
Slots play last month resulted in $108,434,577 in tax revenue for the commonwealth.
Only two of the 12 casinos experienced an increase over the year, including Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin. The Fayette County facility had $2,831,301.87 in revenue last month, a 12.34 percent rise from $2,520,356.65 in August 2014. Mohegan Sun Pocono, in Eastern Pennsylvania, had a modest 0.16 percent increase from $19,047,202.69 to $19,078,602.97.
The average number of operating slot machines at the dozen casinos decreased as well, from 26,403 in August 2014 to 26,234 last month.
