Dunkin’ Donuts set to open near Racetrack Road
Still another Dunkin’ Donuts is ready to launch in Washington County.
The Street at The Meadows location, off Racetrack Road, will officially open at 5 a.m. Monday, confirmed Mike Zappone, marketing manager for Heartland Restaurant Group, the Strip District-based franchisee for Dunkin’ in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
This will be the third Dunkin’ to open in the county in less than three months. It is situated near the Primanti Bros. restaurant in North Strabane Township, slightly downhill from The Meadows Racetrack & Casino and a short pop from Route 19 (Washington Road).
Reaching the finish line on this location took awhile. Heartland announced its intentions to build in mid-April, and forecast a September launch. The wait will soon end for doughnut aficionados.
Like many locations in the chain, the Racetrack Road Dunkin’ will operate from 5 a.m. to midnight seven days a week, and have indoor dining and a drive-through.
For the Canton, Mass.-based company, this is the continuation of a Washington County revival. Dunkin’ had a presence here long ago, then disappeared for many years before opening a shop on Cavasina Drive in Canonsburg in May 2015.
The Peters Township location followed 16 months later, on Sept. 26 of this year. Dunkin’ was built on the Washington Road site where a time-worn, 56-year-old Eat’n Park had been razed. A state-of-the-art Place for Smiles was built a quarter-mile north along the highway.
The third Dunkin’ opened Nov. 21 in South Strabane Township, at the bottom of Murtland Avenue (also Route 19) near the Washington city line. Now the fourth, in North Strabane, is ready to rip.
That’s four Dunkin’ Donuts within seven miles, three of them on or near Washington Road.
