PITTSBURGH- A Cleveland Clinic executive with more than 30 years of experience is Allegheny Health Network’s new CEO.

Cynthia Hundorfean was hired to replace John Paul, according to a report Tuesday by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Paul helped health insurer Highmark Inc. create the hospital network in 2013. It includes Canonsburg Hospital.

Highmark bought out the former West Penn Allegheny Health Network and has added hospitals to create Allegheny Health, which also includes Allegheny General and West Penn hospitals in Pittsburgh.

Highmark said the hiring is part of a “planned transition to sustain the next phase of AHN’s progress.”

Hundorfean was chief administrative officer at the Cleveland Clinic since 2005, and previously served in a variety of executive positions.
