Roundtable to focus on workforce, development resources

The Southwest Corner Manufacturing Roundtable for employers in the manufacturing sector in Beaver, Greene and Washington counties will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. March 18 at Hilton Garden Inn, Southpointe.

The event, hosted by the Southwest Corner Workforce Development Board and state Rep. Brandon Neuman, D-North Strabane Township, will focus on integrating workforce and economic business development for manufacturing.

Attendees can learn how to receive money to increase the skill levels and value of their human resources.

The event will feature keynote speaker Dennis Davin, state secretary for economic development, and a panel discussion moderated by Mark Critz of the Pennsylvania Rural Development Council. It also will address the tri-county’s workforce and economic development financial resources and assistance available to employers.

The workforce development panel will include the following participants: John Tkach, program manager for the Southwest Corner Workforce Development Board industry partnerships; Lisa Neil, president of Southwest Training Services Inc.; Dianne Funkhouser, site administrator for Beaver County PA CareerLink; Dr. Dennis McCarthy, director of Western Area Career and Technology Center; John Goberish, workforce development, Community College of Beaver County; and James DeNova, vice president of the Benedum Foundation.

The economic and workforce development panel will consist of: Lew Villotti, vice president of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Corp.; Mary Stollar, senior vice president of economic development for the Washington County Chamber of Commerce; Donald Chappel, director, Greene County Industrial Developments Inc.; James Palmer, president, Beaver County Corporation for Economic Development; and Petra Mitchell, president of Catalyst Connection.

An 8:30 a.m. registration and breakfast will be followed by a welcome and introduction by Neuman and Ami Gatts, director of the Southwest Corner Workforce Development Board.
