CEA and pipeline infrastructure group create reciprocal membership
HARRISBURG – Consumer Energy Alliance, the national voice for energy consumers, and Pennsylvania Energy Infrastructure Alliance, a broad-based coalition of labor, agriculture, manufacturing and other business interests that support private investment in pipeline and other energy infrastructure developments, Tuesday announced a reciprocal membership to build support for developing Pennsylvania’s pipeline infrastructure.
“The development of reliable, modern pipeline infrastructure in Pennsylvania touches everyone in the commonwealth and is an essential part of ensuring stable energy prices for consumers,” said CEA Mid-Atlantic Executive Director Michael Butler. “We’re happy to join PEIA and to welcome them to CEA given our strong support for the development of pipelines and other critical infrastructure systems that contribute to the economic well-being of our communities and the quality of life we enjoy in Pennsylvania, while also addressing the safety of residents and the environment.”
“Pennsylvania’s natural resources give us a competitive edge in the new energy economy,” said Jeff Kotula, president of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and a founding member of PEIA. “Pipeline projects provide many direct and indirect economic benefits, including creating tens of thousands of construction jobs, generating millions in annual estimated tax revenue locally and statewide, and recurring benefits to manufacturing and other industries that rely on affordable and reliable energy supplies and petrochemicals.”
