ANSYS tabs Mahoney to lead worldwide sales
CANONSBURG – ANSYS Inc. named Rick Mahoney as its vice president of worldwide sales for the maker of engineering simulation software.
The company said in a news release Wednesday Mahoney is joining the company as an industry veteran at a time when megatrends such as the Internet of Things, additive manufacturing and machine learning are reshaping the product landscape and creating unprecedented opportunities for developing the devices of tomorrow.
“Engineering simulation enables engineers to master the complexity inherent in these trends and bring smarter and greener products to market,” the company said.
“With simulation becoming an increasingly critical engineering capability and companies continuing to standardize on one platform, Mahoney brings deep expertise in selling enterprise-wide product development solutions to multinational companies,” the company said. “His breadth of experience will help continue to develop ANSYS’s go-to-market strategies across all customer segments.”
Mahoney was most recently senior vice president of design enablement and international sales at GlobalFoundries, where he led a global engineering team and was responsible for multiple billions of dollars in international sales.
Prior to that, he had a long career at Cadence Design Systems, starting as a software developer and architect, then advancing to senior vice president of worldwide field operations with responsibility for worldwide sales, field application engineering, customer support and sales operations.
The company said Mahoney is relocating to ANSYS global headquarters in Southpointe, and will start his new role Dec. 12.
