Ruff Creek center gets $14K training grant
The Obama administration announced Wednesday that the United Mine Workers Association Career Centers, Inc., received a $14,214 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission to provide grant-writing assistance to raise funds for the development of a training program.
The program will emphasize high-demand occupations such as those that require a commercial driver’s license, or involve heavy equipment and diesel mechanics.
The grant is part of $28 million in funds devoted to additional investments to enhance the economy in coal-impacted communities.
