Saia Inc. opens trucking terminal in Meadowlands Industrial Park
Saia Inc., an Atlanta-based trucking company, has opened a terminal in Meadowlands Industrial Park, North Strabane Township.
Spokeswoman Jeannie Jump said Tuesday the local operation opened last week with 25 employees.
The local terminal is one of four the company opened last week in the Northeast. The other three are in Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Newark, N.J.
According to a news release, the four facilities have a total of 185 doors and more than 80,000 square feet of space. The company said its investments in equipment, infrastructure and the new terminals will total around $220 million, including the recent purchase of a Maryland facility which is scheduled to open in September.
Saia CEO Ray Ramu said the company’s expansion in the Northeast is part of a multiyear plan to increase its network to better serve customers and their shipping needs.
Saia, which is publicly traded on the NASDAQ exchange, had 2016 revenue of $1.2 billion. It offers customers a wide range of less-than-truckload, non-asset truckload and logistic services. It operates 152 terminals in 36 states, employing more than 9,000 people nationwide.
