Waynesburg mining firm schedules job fair, classes

Waynesburg-based GMS Mine Repair & Maintenance will have a “Comeback of Coal” job fair Saturday and Sunday at EconoLodge in Dallas Pike, W.Va.

The fair will be conducted in the conference room from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. next Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. the next day. There is no preregistration, and there are no fees.

GMS has jobs available in Southwestern Pennsylvania, the West Virginia panhandle and eastern Ohio. It is seeking experienced coal miners, foremen and other job candidates. Résumés will be accepted at the job fair, but candidates may apply at online at www.gmsminerepair.com or at the fair.

GMS also offers a 32-hour training class for underground miners every week at Greene County CareerLink office outside Waynesburg. The classes will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 27-30, and preregistration is required. Call 724-852-1017 Ext. 4.
