A four-week training program for people interested in working in the natural gas pipeline field will begin July 30 at the UMWA Career Centers Inc.’s Ruff Creek Campus.

The Natural Gas Utility & Pipeline Field Skills Training Program, designed by the Gas Technology Institute, includes classroom and hands-on education to train entry-level workers in that field.

Scholarship grants are available through the Appalachian Regional Commission for displaced workers, veterans and high school graduates, according to GTI.

The four-week class will run from July 30 to Aug. 24 at the UMWA facility at 197 Dunn Station Road near Ruff Creek. Another class will be held in Freeport, Armstrong County, beginning Aug. 6, and a third training session will run from Sept. 24 to Oct. 19 at Belmont College in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
