Hair salon now operating in Waynesburg

A beauty salon has opened in downtown Waynesburg.
High Street Hair, at 149 E. High St., had its official grand opening recently.
Jason Renner is the owner. He and his wife, Jenn, are stylists along with Amanda Jones, Carrie Anderson, Shayna Kerr, Brittany Miller and Darian Richter.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

GACO seminar
A free seminar, “Federal Government Contracting for Veteran-Owned Businesses,” will run from 8:30 a.m to noon Aug. 8 at the Abie Abraham VA Health Care Center in Butler.
The Government Agency Coordination Office of California University of Pennsylvania and Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania’ s Government Contracting Assistance Center are co-sponsors.
The presentations “Doing Business with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs” and “Assistance Available through the VA’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization” will be made. There also will be a panel discussion featuring federal government agency representatives from the area.

Counselor honored
Stephanie A. McHugh, director of counseling services at Belle Vernon Area High School, will represent Pennsylvania in the Trademark Women of Distinction Honors Edition.
McHugh was selected, according to a news release from the organization, “for demonstrating dedication, leadership and professional excellence. Her compassion and expertise set the standard in the industry.”

Bowles Rice LLP, a law firm based in Charleston, W.Va., with offices in Southpointe, has been ranked No. 345 among the nation’s largest law firms in the National Law Journal’s 2018 NLJ 500 edition. The annual survey lists the 500 U.S. firms with the largest number of full-time lawyers.
