Gas prices drop a little more in Washington, region

Gasoline prices in Western Pennsylvania dropped for a third consecutive week.
They dropped 3.3 cents this week to an average of $3.091 for a gallon of unleaded self-serve, according to a report Monday from AAA East Central. That figure is 57.3 cents higher than it was a year ago, at $2.551.
Pennsylvania’s prices fell three cents from last week to $3.04 per gallon. Prices declined one to five cents in all states in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast region.
Regional inventories decreased by 1.3 million barrels this week to 65.6 million, giving the region a 3.4 million deficit from a year ago, according to the Energy Information Administration.
Washington’s price dropped slightly – 1.2 cents – to $3.123 this week, tied with Jeannette for 15th lowest among 22 Western Pennsylvania cities and towns listed by AAA. Altoona ($2.955) and Du Bois ($2.997) were the only locations with an average below $3.00 per gallon. Brookville ($3.185) had the highest average.
The U.S. average is $2.90, a two-cent drop since last week and a six-cent dip since the beginning of June. But that price is 60 cents higher than a year ago.
