Five finalists named for county ATHENA award

The Washington County Chamber of Commerce on Thursday announced the five finalists for the county ATHENA Leadership Award, plus the recipient of the county ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award.

Finalists for the Leadership Award, honoring women’s business leadership in the county, are:

  • Carole DeAngelo, marketing director, Observer Publishing Co.;
  • Carol J. Jones, quality assurance, Transitional Paths to Independent Living;
  • M. Elizabeth Pepper, M.D., Pepper Family Medicine;
  • Kristen Shaw, Teacher/English Department chair, Trinity Area School District;
  • Rose Tennent, political analyst and media personality, Rose Unplugged.

Victoria Hassett, management consultant for the University of Pittsburgh Small Business Development Center, will receive Young Professional Leadership Award.

This is the 16th year of the county ATHENA Award, which is presented by Washington Financial Bank.

Those six women will be honored May 11 at the Hilton Garden Inn, Pittsburgh/Southpointe.
