PUC slates hearing in city on Columbia Gas rate hike
The state Public Utility Commission will have a public input hearing on a rate increase request by Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania Inc. at 6 p.m. June 21 at the Courthouse Square Building, 100 W. Beau St., Washington.
PUC Administrative Law Judge Jeffrey Watson will conduct the hearing.
If granted, Columbia Gas’ request would raise the average monthly bill for a residential customer using 70 therms of gas per month from $91.63 to $99.88 (9 percent). The company also has requested to increase the monthly residential customer charge from $16.75 to $18.25. The proposal would result in a revenue increase by $46.9 million (8.16 percent) a year.
Members of the public may provide oral or written testimony, which would become part of the record on which the PUC will make its final decision.
Individuals with special needs who want to attend the hearing should make arrangements by calling the PUC scheduling office (717-787-1399) at least five business days before the hearing. For those who are deaf or hearing-impaired, the AT&T Relay Service number is 1-800-654-5988.
