Count yourself in: 5 reasons to give through WCCF Gives
Are you one of the thousands of Washington County residents that is counting down the days (or hours) to Sept. 10? If not, why not?
At the Washington County Community Foundation, we believe the true measure of a community is how it rises to meet its neighbors’ needs. WCCF Gives is how Washington County does exactly that: thousands of neighbors, dozens of causes, one shared effort.
WCCF Gives is a leadership initiative of the Washington County Community Foundation that helps local charities secure something they rarely get: unrestricted support. Since its inception, WCCF Gives has awarded nearly $16 million to charities serving Washington County. And this year’s event is poised to be our most exciting yet.
Here are five reasons why you should give through WCCF Gives:
1. WCCF Gives makes your donation go further. A prize pool means WCCF Gives donations are worth more. Our supporters have helped us grow the prize pool to $200,000 this year in celebration of the foundation’s 30th anniversary (double what it has been before). The total includes the event’s traditional $100,000 prize pool plus an additional $100,000 in “Power Boost” prizes available for charities that secure at least 20 unique donors or $1,500 in contributions. Your gift could be the one that gets them there.
2. The minimum gift is just $25. WCCF Gives is designed to be inclusive, so as many people as possible can share in the experience of giving “close to home.” Simply mail a check payable to WCCF along with a completed 2026 Check Contribution Form, postmarked by Sept. 10. Donors 70½ and older can also give through a Qualified Charitable Distribution from an IRA (contact your administrator now since these take time to process). Credit card donors can access the online giving portal on wccfgives.org from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10.
3. You can support many different charities with a single gift.
Washington County is home to so many organizations doing extraordinary work. This year, a record-breaking 164 charities are participating in WCCF Gives, and with a single transaction, you can support every one of your favorite participants (making record-keeping easy).
4. WCCF Gives grants are unrestricted. The most useful gift charities can receive is the one that trusts them to decide. It’s also the hardest kind to raise. However, WCCF Gives grants are unrestricted, meaning organizations can put the support where the need is greatest.
5. And the one that matters most: WCCF Gives reminds us that we’re all in this together.
Your donation through WCCF Gives isn’t just another gift. It’s an investment in the people around you, the services that make daily life better here, and the future of the place you call “home.”
So, won’t you join us? Support your favorite local charities through WCCF Gives. The giving window runs now through Sept. 10. Visit wccfgives.org to learn more.
