Corey Young’s energy level for the energy industry has always been high. His energy image is now soaring as well.

Young, executive director of Washington & Jefferson College’s Center for Energy and the Built Environment, was recently selected as one of “20 People to Know in Energy” by the Pittsburgh Business Times.

He has been leader of the center – known until recently as the Center for Energy Policy and Management – since 2016. The center, launched in 2012, has provided energy information, education and outreach to local communities.

The renamed center is striving to expand its focus beyond energy production and policy to include the “built environment” and its intersection with energy issues.

“I’m grateful for the recognition by the Pittsburgh Business Times,” Young said in a statement. “I’m also so thankful for the support I receive in the center, from my colleagues and students at W&J to our external partners in the region.”

Young graduated from W&J in 2011. He earned a master’s degree from Clemson University and a Ph.D from West Chester University in public administration.

The Business Times list features individuals in energy-related fields, including key leaders, behind-the-scenes players and others who are helping to power the region’s energy future.
