Kathleen Corea will appear on HGTV's "House Hunters" Wednesday at 10 p.m.

A Washington-based real estate agent, the house she sold locally and the North Carolina transplants who bought it will be featured on national TV next week.

“House Hunters,” a long-running reality series on HGTV, will stop in Southwestern Pennsylvania on Wednesday night for a show that will air at 10 p.m.

HGTV actually has stopped here already, filming over a number of days to chronicle Eric and Elizabeth Sanders’ search for a new home far from the Carolinas.

The agent, Katherine Correa, said the three of them had to do “a mini-audition” and 20-minute interviews in preparing for the show.

The buyers examined a number of possible destinations in this region, settling on three “finalists” among the homes – two in the Pittsburgh area, one in the Washington County area.

Correa said she was not allowed to be more specific about locations and which one the Sanderses ultimately selected. That will be revealed at the end of the show.

Correa, a longtime Washington resident, said viewers will be introduced to the buyers and see tours of the three selected homes. The couple will compile a wish list and say what they like and don’t like about the residences.

HGTV selects a title for each house that is chosen, and this episode will be “Your House or Your Wife,” indicating that Mr. and Mrs. Sanders’ discussions may have been a tad testy at times.

Correa, a Realtor with Reality ONE Group – Landmark, said this is the first time she has worked with HGTV on this program and that “it has been a really good experience.”

She said she believes this the first time a Washington County home has been a finalist and that “only a few” in the Pittsburgh area have been selected since “House Hunters” initially aired in 1999.

Correa has been a licensed real estate agent since 2021, after taking real estate classes during the COVID pandemic. She started with EXP, a real estate brokerage that operates mostly online, and made an impressive start.

“My first year, I was a million-dollar producer even though I was a ‘Realtor baby.'”

A New York City native, Correa moved to Washington, Pa., with her family when she was 7 years old, and has resided there since. She is a Washington High School alum with a diligent work ethic. Correa works two jobs, both of which can be intense, and admits that “sometimes I can be a little overwhelmed.”

She also is a floor supervisor at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, whose duties include being a dealer and overseeing table games.

“Real estate is so competitive, but I realize that I want a better future for my family.”

She said when her birth family moved to Washington more than a quarter-century ago, “we did not have much but each other. We rented in New York. Having a mortgage was a learning experience for me.”

Her husband, Derrick, is a full-time employee as well, working as a service professional for the Red Lobster restaurant chain for more than two decades.

Their son, Aaryn, is a pre-medicine/biology major at Washington & Jefferson College, where he is a freshman and a member of the Presidents football team.

On Wednesday, the family should get a kick over mom’s television experience.
