Chiming in with R.T. Bell
As this year draws to a close, council has worked hard to keep our town growing, and we are committed to keep things moving in a positive way. We and our staff are constantly looking for new businesses and developers to locate in our town. It seems to be working well and we are seeing new buildings and construction now and for the new year. We are working on our infrastructure to make day-to-day life easier for our residents. We ask for your support and patience during all the projects that are going on.
With all of the work on our streets, it becomes frustrating for many driving these roads daily. These projects are going to be a positive step for all of us. It’s not often that projects this large occur, as Canonsburg neighborhoods are experiencing a lot of change simultaneously with new water lines and taps, gas lines and services and sewer work.
When the work is done, there will be many re-paved roads and new sidewalks in our community. The only drawback to completion may be the weather, as cold temperatures may postpone some projects until spring.
Please be positive about all of this change. It will be worth it.
The dedication of the Officer Scott Bashioum Bridge on South Central Avenue was well attended. This honors not only the late Officer Scott Bashioum, but also the officers of our police department and all of our area first responders.
Ready for the holidays
Our chamber of commerce and the borough have been busy preparing for the holidays. The snowflakes and other lights are up through town and the borough building are looking very nice. Our borough staff spent a lot of time in getting this done and we appreciate it.
The borough and chamber of commerce also worked together on another light up night. There was a lot going on, with horse-drawn rides, carolers, music, Santa Claus and much more.
It was a great night and we appreciate all that took part in organizing and working on it.
I, along with the mayor, council and all of our borough family, wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
