Welcome to ‘Margarita-burg’

With a stadium theme of “Welcome to Margarita- burg,” Canonsburg’s annual Fourth of July celebration will once again feature a 5K Run/Walk, one of the largest parades in Pennsylvania, free admission to Town Park Pool and a fireworks display at Canon- McMillan stadium. This year, the fireworks will be preceded by a performance by Tom Watt, the “Buffettman,” as well as skydivers.
Note: Canonsburg Police Dept. will closing Pike Street and side streets at 8:30 a.m. If you must travel through Canonsburg for work or other reasons between 8:30 a.m. and the end of the parade, please plan to use alternate routes.
Here’s the tentative schedule:
Morning
7:45 a.m. – 33rd Annual Whiskey Rebellion 5K Run/Walk. For registration info, visit www.runsignup.com/race/pa/canonsburg/whiskeyrebellion5krunwalk
9 a.m. – Ringing of church bells to signify the opening of festivities
9:05 a.m. – Opening remarks by Mayor David Rhome and Chairman Bills Brooks at Grandstand (corner of West Pike Street and Hutchinson Avenue)
10 a.m. – Flyover of Pike Street by U.S. Air Force
10 a.m. – Start of the second-largest parade in Pennsylvania! Grand Marshalls will be the First Responders of Washington County, and will include a memorial tribute to fallen officer Scott Bashioum. Scott’s parents and youngest children will be riding in the parade.
Afternoon
Starting at noon – Free admission to Town Park Pool
• Free moon bounce, giant slide, spin art, sand art, rock climbing wall and balloon art
• DJ playing all your favorite hits!
• Games and prizes poolside!
1:30 p.m. – SNPJ Button Boxes at the Main Pavilion
3 p.m. – Tom Terling Band at the Main Pavilion
Evening
6:30 p.m.- Gates open at Canon-McMillan Stadium (free admission)
7 p.m.- Welcome program, including singing of National Anthem by James Markle. Float winners announced.
7:30 p.m.- “Welcome to Margarita-burg” featuring Tom Watt, “The Buffettman.” Come dressed in your best island garb and receive a ticket for a chance to win door prizes. Virgin margaritas and virgin pina coladas will be on sale. (Alcohol is not permitted on stadium grounds.)
8:15 p.m.- Skydivers will be jumping to the stadium
10 p.m. – Gigantic fireworks display with music!
