Dine fundraiser a big success
The Dining Around the Pool held Saturday, Sept., 9 was a huge success. We raised close to $23,000, which is phenomenal, considering we only could accommodate two-thirds of the people we had at the last major event held in 2012. Space was limited to 200 since we weren’t dining “in the pool” this time. Texas Roadhouse once again graciously provided an outstanding meal, professionally and efficiently served. All who attended had a great time eating, laughing and even dancing. There were so many gifts we had to enlarge the area to house them.
Tom Terling was extremely entertaining, and Mayor Dave Rhome was eloquent on the microphone. Appetizers and desserts were provided by many of the local catering companies and some individuals, while the glittering desserts were provided by the new Canonsburg location of Bethel Bakery.
Special thank you to all our sponsors and volunteers, for without the hard work, dedication and generosity of these magnificent people in our community, this event and our wonderful park would not be what it is today.
Time to step down
It has been my pleasure and my passion to serve on this board both as a member and as its president and event chair for the past 10-plus years. Chairing the several Night at the Races, the Dine in the Pool and the Dining Around the Pool events was an inspiration. This great group of volunteers, whether part time or full time, is something that very few organizations get to see firsthand. It has been a humbling experience.
While it is time for me to step down from the helm, I will always support the Canonsburg Town Park and its endeavors and wish the new board and officers all the luck and success moving forward to make Canonsburg Town Park a family community destination for many generations to come.
