Teen Advisory Board

Grades 7-12 meet to plan, organize and lead activities that will engage and benefit members of the community. New members welcome. 6-7 p.m. March 5 and 6-7 p.m. April 1.

Fiction Book Club

The group will be discussing “Memoirs of a Geisha” by John Golden. New members always welcome! 1 p.m. March 13.

Teen Writers’ Club

Are you a student in grades 7-12 who enjoys writing? Whether you enjoy writing fiction, poetry, short stories or more, stop by to meet like-minded teens. We will write, share and support each other through the creative process. Email questions to Beth Kairush, Teen Advisory Board coordinator, at bkairush@franksarrislibrary.org. 6-7 p.m. March 18 and 6-7 p.m. April 15.

Bigfoot Fest 2019

Doug Waller, founder of the Southeastern Ohio Society for Bigfoot Investigation will be the keynote speaker. He will discuss his own personal research concerning accounts of Bigfoot venturing into urban areas. The event is free and the public is encouraged to share their experiences with these mysterious creatures. Refreshments will be served. Trivia Night of the Round Tables

Grab some friends and pool your knowledge together at our after-hours trivia competition. Open to teens, adults, and families (with children ages 12+). Teams will compete for first prize answering questions from different categories. We will have snacks and drinks to satisfy your hunger while our questions challenge your brain. The fee is $5/person and teams can have 4-6 people/team. Registration is required and space is limited; registration will open in March. Yoga Story Time

Stretch and be centered at this special yoga session for kids (and their grownups)! Mondays, 10:30-11 a.m.

Rise and Shine and greet the new week. All ages welcome! Mondays, 11:15-11:45 a.m.

Madcap Mondays

Crafts, games, and science are just a few of the possibilities. Registration is required at the children’s circulation desk or by calling 724-745-1308 (option #4). Mondays, 4:30-5:30 p.m. for grades 5-8 and 5:30-6:30 p.m. for grades 2-4.

Mother Goose Story Time

For infants up to 18 months with a caregiver. Tuesdays, 10:30-11 a.m.

Toddler Tales

Finger plays and songs based on simple concepts, repetition and lots of movement. Ages 2-3. Tuesdays, 11:15-11:45 a.m.

Family Night

Stories, crafts, and games. New things to explore each week. Tuesdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Little Picassos

Every week is a new make and take creation. Ages 2-5. Wednesdays, 10:30-11 a.m.

Wiggles and Giggles

More than A Story

PA DMV Practice Tests

Through the library’s website, visitors can access free tests specifically based on Pennsylvania’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) materials. This website includes multiple car, motorcycle and CDL practice tests, online driver’s manuals and a FAQ section with detailed answers to over 100 DMV related questions.

Playaway Audiobook Collection

Check out our collection of Playaway audiobooks – you can listen anytime, anywhere. These audiobooks are powered by AAA battery so no other device, technology or WiFi connection is needed. The universal audio jack is compatible with headphones (listen while you clean, garden or relax) and auxiliary cords (use an auxiliary cord to listen in the car). Come and check out our collection and start listening!

Playaway Launchpad Collection

Playaway Launchpad is a pre-loaded tablet designed for a circulation environment. We have Launchpads for children, teens and adults. The Launchpads for children are pre-loaded with high-quality learning apps and are available in many subjects. The teen and adult Launchpads include some instructional apps, brain games and trivia.

Young Explorer Kits

Thanks to Grable Foundation’s generous funding of the Young Library Explorers program, we have a total of 69 kits for infants, toddlers and elementary school aged (through fourth grade) children. Samples of our themes: shapes, STEM, measurement and dinosaurs. These kits are filled with age-appropriate educational toys and other materials, and available to borrow. Stop by the Adult Circulation desk to borrow a kit.
