3 min read

The first trout stocking trucks roll through the area this week – the surest sign spring is just around the corner.

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission will stock nearly 4.2 million trout across the commonwealth this year, with some 8,500 of those fish being trophy class – a palomino trout that averages 14 inches and 1.5 pounds.

Locally, the first waterways to be stocked will be Dutch Fork and Mingo creeks Monday. The truck will meet those wishing to assist with the stockings at 1:15 p.m. at Exit 6 on Interstate 70 at the truck stop in Claysville.

Later in the week, Browns Creek in Greene County will be stocked Wednesday. The truck will meet those wishing to assist with the stocking at 11:30 a.m. at the Amity ballfield on state Route 2020 Wednesday.

A list of future stockings will appear on this page weekly as they approach.
