Jacob I. Brown, a senior at Canon-McMillan High School, has been named a Commended Student in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program. A letter of commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corp., which conducts the program, will be presented to Brown. His parents are Terry and Charles Brown of McDonald.
Kevin Freeman, a senior at Canon-McMillan High School, has been named a semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Contest. Freeman was chosen by his scores on the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Finalists must have an outstanding academic record, be endorsed by their principal and earn an SAT score close to their score on the preliminary exam. Students also must submit an essay. His parents are Carolyn and Daniel Freeman of Canonsburg.
Benjamin D. Macioszek, a senior at Canon-McMillan High School, has been named a Commended Student in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program. A letter of commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corp., which conducts the program, will be presented to Macioszek. His parents are Emily and Ben Macioszek of Canonsburg.
