Trinity music program recognized

1 min read

The NAMM Foundation has recognized Trinity Area School District for the fourth consecutive year for its commitment to music education with a Best Communities for Music Education designation.

Trinity is among 307 districts across the country to receive the distinction. Best Communities for Music Education affirms school districts that have demonstrated exceptional efforts toward maintaining music education as part of the schools’ core curriculum.

Trinity’s high school marching band is a 10-time state champion, and the wind ensemble has received 20 consecutive superior ratings at festivals. The high school chamber choir is annually involved in events throughout the United States.

In the 2012-13 school year, 23 high school students were involved in various local, state and national honor music festivals. Emily Drabeck, David Fiem and Maria Grande participated in national honor ensembles, and Deirdre Skiffington earned a spot in the state orchestra ensemble.

Students in the high school performing arts academy will present “Seussical the Musical” at 7:30 p.m. today through Saturday in the high school auditorium. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and will be sold at the door.
