Food bank needs votes for grant
The Greater Washington County Food Bank is trying to earn a grant from Wal-Mart Stores Inc. by having the public vote for them in the “Fighting Hunger Together” initiative, a national campaign where money is awarded to programs for their innovative and effective programs that help alleviate child hunger.
Participants can vote at http://apps.facebook.com/walmartlocal/?applet=hunger&organization=541. The money will be used to support local child hunger-relief programs.
Deadline to vote is 11:59 p.m. April 30. Visitors can cast one vote per day for their favorite program. Top vote-getters will split $3 million.
