Cal U. will host health fair
California University of Pennsylvania will hold its 26th annual health fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 18 at the main campus.
The free event, coordinated by the Cal U. Health and Wellness Education Center, will feature more than 40 health-care industry booths addressing a variety of topics, including diabetes, smoking cessation and orthopedics.
Screenings for blood glucose, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, balance and body-mass index will be conducted. Flu shots will be administered by the staff from Centerville Clinics. Cost of the shot is $19.
Central Blood Bank also will conduct a blood drive, as well as a Be the Match donor registry drive to identify potential marrow donors.
The first 600 people who visit the fair will receive drawstring bags. Bottled water and healthy snack packs also will be distributed randomly throughout the day.
A local disc jockey will provide music in the Convocation Center courtyard; and temporary tattoo artists and caricature artists will provide entertainment.
