Knox – 90 and 94 years
Winnie Louise Knox of Washington and her husband of 70 years, Lloyd Vincent Knox, will celebrate their 90th and 94th birthdays together at a gathering at Hoss’s Steak House in Grove City on Feb. 16.
She was born February 7, 1923, in Morgantown, W.Va. and he was born February 16, 1919, in Grindstone.
On August 3, 1942, they married, while Mr. Knox was serving active duty in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II.
The couple have four children, Jerry (Sue) Knox of Warren, Marilyn (Doug) Ward of Washington, Linda (John) Morgan of Canonsburg and the Rev. Daniel (Pam) Knox of Ambridge.
They have nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Mr. Knox worked as a bus mechanic for Blue Ridge, Gradison, and retired from Suburban Bus Co. in Washington. He also drove school buses for GG&C and Schweinebraten Bus companies. He is a member of the Masonic Lodge, American Legion Post 175 and the NRA.
Mrs. Knox is a homemaker who served as a Sunday school teacher, den leader for Cub Scouts and grange lecturer. She served for many years as a Washington Hospital volunteer. She is a member of Martha V. Paul Order of the Eastern Star.
Both are active members of North Buffalo Presbyterian Church, Buffalo Grange and Washington Senior Citizens.
