CAS accepting adult education students
Community Action Southwest’s adult education program, designed to help Greene and Washington County residents 17 or older improve their skills and/or obtain their GED, is accepting students.
A complete schedule of classes is available in the two-county area. Classes are taught every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Greene, Mon Valley and Washington CareerLink sites. Classes also are offered until 7 p.m. Tuesdays in Carmichaels, Burgettstown and Washington and Thursdays in Waynesburg and Washington.
Pennsylvania-certified instructors work with students to determine their weekly class schedule. Volunteer tutors also are available to meet with students in libraries or other neutral locations throughout in both counties. In addition, students partnered with a trained case manager, who will help them find employment and/or enroll in a trade school or college.
The adult education program is part of the agency’s Community Action WORKS initiative, which addresses adult education, employability, skills, housing and asset development, while creating opportunities and providing support for economic independence.
