School receives free supplies

1 min read

Washington Park Elementary School is among the schools selected by the Education Partnership, a Pennsylvania nonprofit organization, to receive school and classroom supplies for teachers and students at no cost for the 2013-14 school year.

To be eligible, 70 percent or more of the school’s students must qualify for a free or reduced lunch through the National School Lunch Program in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Washington or Westmoreland counties.

A school selection committee composed of local education professionals chose the participating schools based on a variety of criterion.

A total of 58 schools applied, representing nearly 23,000 students. Based on the current capacity of the Education Partnership, the organization is able to serve 7,500 students and 700 teachers this coming school year.
