Ian Aquilino graduated from Penn State University, where he majored in actuarial science, with minors in mathematics and statistics. He was named to the dean’s list eight consecutive semesters and was a Smeal College student mentor and communications chairman of the Actuarial Science Club. Aquilino is a 2009 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School, and his parents are John and Pam Aquilino of Canonsburg. He has accepted a position with New York Life.

Diana Beam, daughter of Charles and MaryAnn Beam of Washington, graduated from Waynesburg University with a degree in business management. She was a member of the Student Activities Board for three years, serving as president for two years, a student orientation leader and student orientation board member. She also was a student worker in the university’s Nursing Department and Student Services. She is a 2009 graduate of Trinity High School and assistant manager of Dress Barn in Washington.

Brent Bigler was named to the dean’s list at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, where he is majoring in business management and human resources. He is a member of the golf team. Bigler was honored in Harrisburg as a semifinalist in the 2012-13 Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Student Business Plan Competition. He is a 2010 Trinity High School graduate, and his parents are Randy and Elaine Bigler of Washington.

Hunter Bigler, son of Randy and Elaine Bilger of Washington, was named to the dean’s list with a 4.0 grade-point average at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he is majoring in sports exercise science. He is a member of the baseball team. Bigler graduated from Trinity High School in 2012.

Kurt Bonnet graduated summa cum laude from Waynesburg University, where he majored in business management, with minors in economics and finance. He was named to the dean’s list for eight consecutive semesters and was a member of Sigma Beta Delta International Society in Business Management and Administration, Future Business Leaders of America, Phi Beta Lambda, Student Activities Board and Student Senate. Bonnet also was vice president of the Business Club, the 2013 top senior in business management, a Leadership Scholar, A.B. Miller Scholar and student mentor. He received the Boris Ivec Prize in economics. Bonnet was a four-year member of the basketball team, serving as captain his senior season, and a four-year member of the track team. He was named to the PAC Academic Honor Roll in 2010-13 for basketball and track; first-team All-PAC in track in 2011-12; and second team All-PAC in track in 2010. Bonnet was an ECAC track and field qualifier in 2010-12 and a 2011 and 2012 national track and field qualifier. He is the university’s record-holder in discus. Bonnet is enrolled in the university’s Master of Business Administration program in finance. He is a 2009 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School and is employed at Southpointe Country Club. His parents are Michael and Lisa Bonnet of Eighty Four.

Scott Byrd was named to the dean’s list for the fourth consecutive semester, including the third consecutive semester with a 4.0 grade-point average, at Waynesburg University, where he is majoring in accounting. Byrd is a 2011 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School, and his parents are Scott and Christy Byrd of Houston.

Karlie Comfort, daughter of Tony and Kim Comfort of Washington, was named to the dean’s list for the third consecutive semester, including the second consecutive semester with a 4.0 grade-point average, at Slippery Rock University, where she is majoring in middle level math education with a minor in exceptionalities. She is a member of Kappa Delta Pi International Education Honor Society. Comfort received the Secondary Education Academic Excellence Scholarship and the Lillian Grace Martin Scholarship. She is a 2011 graduate of Trinity High School and is employed by American Eagle, Victoria’s Secret and as an umpire for TWIST softball.

Lauren Paige DiSalvio graduated magna cum laude from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, where she was a liberal studies major with a concentration in library science. Her parents are Greg DiSalvio and Melissa Diamond, both of Washington. She is a 2009 graduate of Washington High School.

Mack W. Frantz earned his master’s degree in biology at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and is pursuing a doctorate at West Virginia University, with a graduate teaching assistantship for a degree in forestry resources with a wildlife management concentration. As part of his doctoral research, he is studying the influences of oil and gas development on Louisiana Waterthrush in Jacksonburg, W.Va. His parents are William C. Frantz and Susan Frantz, both of Washington. Frantz is a 2010 graduate of Point Park University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in biology, and a 2006 graduate of Trinity High School.

Kellie Fromholzer, daughter of Erick and Lynne Fromholzer of Canonsburg, was named to the dean’s list at the University of Montevallo, Montevallo, Ala., where she is majoring in speech pathology. Fromholzer is a member of Sigma Alpha Pi for the Department of Communication Science and Disorder and a member of the Order of Omega Greek Honor Society. She is a 2010 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School.

Morgan Alexander Carpenter-Hall graduated from Capital University in Bexley, Ohio, where he majored in biochemistry. He received the Collegiate Fellowship Scholarship Award and was a finalist for the Bruning Undergraduate Research Award. Carpenter-Hall presented his research findings at the Experimental Biology 2013 Conference in Boston. He is a 2009 graduate of Trinity High School, and his parents are

Robert and Mary Lou Hall of Washington and Debrah Carpenter-Hall.

Mallory Gasbarrini was named to the dean’s list at Washington & Jefferson College, where she is majoring in pre-med and psychology . She is a 2010 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School, and her parents are Joe and Jody Gasbarrini of Canonsburg.

Jared Gil-more, son of Michael and Linda Gilmore of Burgettstown, graduated cum laude from Clarion University of Pennnsylvania, where he majored business administration. Gilmore is pursuing his master’s degree at Clarion with an accelerated program. He is a 2009 graduate of Avella Area Junior/Senior High School.

Trevor Howarth graduated from Point Park University, where he majored in psychology. He also was named to the dean’s list. Howarth is a 2009 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School, and his mother is Beth Howarth of Canonsburg. Howarth is pursuing a master’s degree at Point Park.

Eleanor Lee was named to the dean’s list at Eastman School of Music, where she is majoring in cello performance in the studio of Alan Harris. She also is studying secondary voice at Eastman, and she plays the cello at St. Mary’s Church in Rochester. This summer, she will continue her cello studies at the Meadowmount School of Music in New York. Lee was a 2011 valedictorian at Trinity High School, and her parents are Kevin and Alice Lee of Washington.

Brendan Marasco of Washington was named Grove City College Senior Man of the Year. The award is presented jointly by the Mortar Board and Omicron Delta Kappa. The selection is made based on scholarship, leadership and service. Marasco majored in business finance and was a resident assistant, class president and a member of the Student Government Association and Crimson and White Society. He also served on the Student Faculty Review and Business Initiative for Leadership Development and Homecoming committees. He was a student assistant for a business professor and captain of an intramural sports team.

Shannon Mason graduated summa cum laude from Iona College in New Rochelle, N.Y., with a bachelor of arts degree in mass communications with an emphasis in public relations. She was named to the dean’s list every semester and was a member of the Mass Communications Honors Society and Delta Epsilon Sigma, and shed received the 2013 Public Relations Medal. Mason is a 2009 graduate of McGuffey High School, and her parents are Mark and Susan Mason of Washington. She is employed as public relations/social media assistant at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City.

Alyson Marie Maund graduated summa cum laude from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in speech pathology and audiology. She is a member of the Sigma Alpha Pi National Society of Leadership and Success and the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association. Maund has been accepted into the summer 2013 graduate program for speech language pathology at Clarion. She is a 2009 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School, and her parents are James and Jan Maund of Canonsburg.

Benjamin Thomas Maund, son of James and Jan Maund of Canonsburg, graduated summa cum laude from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a master’s degree in health and physical education. He is a member of the Pennsylvania State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, the American Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and the Pennsylvania State Education Association. He is a 2006 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School.

Angela Palumbo, a graduate of Trinity High School, was selected the Omicron Delta Kappa Sportswoman of the Year at Grove City College. Palumbo is the first Grove City student-athlete to earn Sportswoman of the Year twice. Last year, she became the first junior to earn the honor. She ended her career as a 21-time NCAA Division III All-American in swimming. She earned All-American honors in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 400 medley relay and all three free relays in March at the NCAA Division III Championships. The school placed ninth in the team standings, its best finish at the national championships. Palumbo owns school records in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle and all five relay events and earned earned the conference’s Most Valuable Performer Award in 2012 and 2013. Palumbo is a senior majoring in mathematics. She earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors in 2012 and has been again nominated for the program. She is a dean’s list student and has been named to the conference’s Academic Honor Roll.

Jessica Popeck graduated summa cum laude from California University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in early childhood eduction. She is a 2009 graduate of Fort Cherry High School, and her parents are James and Joyce Popeck of Hickory. She is a subsitute teacher in the Canon-McMillan School District and works at NovaCare Rehabilitation in Southpointe.

Brittany Reihner, daughter of Elaine Reihner of Washington and the late Robert Reihner, was named to the dean’s list with a 4.0 grade-point average at West Liberty University, where she is majoring in elementary education. She is a 2009 graduate of McGuffey High School.

Jordan Roberts was named to the dean’s list at West Virginia University, where he is majoring in industrial engineering. Roberts is a member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society and Engineers Without Borders. He works in the research department at the Industrial Assessment Center and has accepted an internship in lean manufacturing at GE Power Distribution in Clearwater, Fla. He is a 2011 graduate of Trinity High School, and his parents are Steve and Tammie Roberts of Washington.

Shannon Rungo was named to the dean’s list at Robert Morris University, where she is majorin in nursing. She is a 2009 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School, an her parents are Jim and Susan Rungo of Houston.

Spencer Secreti, daughter of Francesco and Kelly Secreti of Washington, was named to the dean’s list at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she is majoring in nursing. She is a member of the Student Nursing Association of Pennsylvania. Secreti graduated in 2011 from Trinity High School.

Ethan Shriver, son of Boz and HP Shriver of Avella, graduated from Penn State University, where he majored in business marketing and management. Shriver is a 2009 graduate of McGuffey High School and is a job-site reconciler and administrative assistant for Chapman Corp.

Karlie Shriver was named to the dean’s list for the fourth consecutive semester, including the third with a 4.0 grade-point average, at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she is majoring in health and physical education, with a teaching option. She is president of the Health and Physical Education Club. Shriver graduated in 2011 from McGuffey High School, and her parents are Boz and HP Shriver of Avella.

Amanda Waszil graduated from the Smeal College of Business at Penn State University, where she majored in business management. She was a member of the university’s “Everyone Can Help,” THON and the Penn State Grass Roots Network Team. She also served as treasurer of the Spanish Club. She is a 2009 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School, and her parents are Andrew and Laura Waszil of Canonsburg.

Kayla Welling, daughter of Mark and Tammy Welling of Washington, graduated cum laude from Edinboro University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in speech and hearing sciences. She was vice president of the Sign Language Club, a member of the Speech and Hearing Club and philanthropy chairman of Order of Omega Honorary Fraternity. She is employed by Calvin Klein and New York and Co., both at Tanger Outlets, and is a 2009 graduate of Washington High School.
