North Strabane Community Day set for June 22
North Strabane Township will hold Community Day from noon to 11 p.m. June 22 at North Strabane Municipal Park.
There will be demonstrations, food, a dunk tank and information booths. Country singer Chris Higbee will perform as well as Tim Grealish and The Four Townsmen.The Kids Zone will provide activities such as face-painting and balloon art for children, and there will be strolling magicians and two clowns. A scavenger hunt also will be held.
Grand opening of the North Strabane Township Disc Golf Course will take place at noon near McClelland Pavilion. This is the first permanent course in Washington County. The nine-hole course will be expanded to 18 holes in 2014. Professional disc golfers will provide demonstrations throughout the day. Discs will be for sale at the event.
A cornhole tournament wil begin at 3 p.m. Early registration deadline is 3:30 p.m. June 14. Cost is $10 for a two-player team. Cost is $15 on the day of the event. Cash prizes wil be awarded.
Festivities will conclude with fireworks at about 9:30 p.m.
